Online Marketing Summit Alberta Recap

Over 50+ entrepreneurs, creators, makers and business owners gathered for 2 days (16+ hours) not including networking and beers 🙂 at Royal Executive Hotel in Edmonton on July 13th and 14th.

There were sessions on Youtube, Facebook, Blogging, LinkedIn and whole lot more covering all areas of online marketing.

We started with Marketing Strategy session by Mitch Cammidge on Saturday morning.

Mitch talked about why it’s critical to have a solid marketing and positioning before you even began to market or advertise. It’s like GPS you cannot get to a destination without understanding the route and challenges so you can prepare accordingly.

Mitch also talked about branding and your businesses perception and narrative it has among the masses.

After an amazing session by Mitch, now it was time to get into details and go all technical. Ali Salman hosted the second session of the morning and he talked all about SEO. How to make Google and other search engines love you. This session covered Google ranking factors, content strategy, backlinking, on-page SEO and whole lot more.

Here was our agenda for next 2 days which everyone got immersed into:

Saturday: 8:30 to 9 am (Coffee and Networking)

9 am to 10:00 am (Marketing Positioning & Strategy) – Mitch | Most important things you cannot ignore and what mistakes not to make when creating your marketing strategy and grand plan. What is important before you even start your marketing execution. 

10:00 am to 11:00 am (SEO)  – Ali Salman | Biggest traffic source where people are ready to buy. How to outrank your competition in 2019/20. SEO growth strategies and tricks on what is working at the moment. 

11 am to 12 pm: (Youtube Marketing) – Mitch | The Youtube session goes over how to get subscribers, leads and clients using Youtube and what is working right now!!

12-1 pm Lunch & Networking

1 pm to 2 pm: (CRO) – Amin Ahmed | Lead to sales conversion. How to convert your traffic into leads. Conversion Rate Optimization. 

2 pm to 3 pm: (Sales Conversion) – Mitch | Leads but no conversion? This session will talk about how to convert prospects into paying customers…and increase your current conversion rate using latest tricks, techniques and strategies. 

3 pm to 4:30 pm: (Ads) – Ali Salman | Facebook & Google Ads. How to create winning Facebook, Google Adwords, Retagreting and Instagram Ad campaigns.

4:30 pm to 7: In the lobby beers and networking

Sunday: 8:30 to 9 am (Coffee and Networking)

9 am to 10 am (Email Marketing & Marketing Automation) – Ali SalmanHow the concepts of segmentation, personalization, timing, and engagement along with the legislation and regulations surrounding data protection underpin an effective email marketing strategy. How to use emails beyond email marketing.

10:00 am to 11:30 pm:  (Facebook and Instagram Marketing) – Mitch | The Facebook and Instagram session goes over how to get leads and clients using Facebook and Instagram and what is working right now in 2019/20.

11:30 am to 12:30 am (LinkedIn Marketing)  – Ali Salman | The LinkedIn session goes over how to get leads and clients using LinkedIn and what is working right now in 2019/20. 

 

12:30 – 1:30 pm Lunch & Networking

1:30 pm to 2:30 pm: (Data, KPI’s & Analytics) – Ali Salman | Google Analytics, Webmasters and & My Business. The Analytics module begins with the fundamentals of web analytics and the associated legal responsibilities and best practices concerning data collection, consent, and privacy that enable a digital marketer to draw actionable conclusions from website or marketing channel data.

2:30 pm to 3:30 pm: (Video marketing) – Mike Cook |  Video Marketing 101 – How to get started and launch your video marketing strategy, and get clients/leads from it. 

3:30 pm to 4:30 pm: (Unconventional and Free Online Marketing Strategies) – Ali Salman |  There are alot of alternate ways beside mainstream platforms, explore and find out what are other free growth hacks and marketing tricks you can apply without spending a dime. 

4:30 pm to 7: In the lobby beers and networking

We wrapped it up with on Sunday at 5pm July 14th after 16+ hours of dedicated learning, networking and immersing ourselves into marketing knowledge. After the event we had few attendees who all headed for beers and unwind after a long 2 days of alot of learning.
