What Not To Do:

  • Status Updates posted using a 3rd party tool like (Zoho Social, Buffer, Hootsuite, etc.) seem to get less visibility than those posted on LinkedIn natively (where did I see that also…. Oh Facebook). Post natively!!
  • Status updates including links to content outside LinkedIn seem to do worse than text-only Status Updates (LinkedIn wants readers to stay on LinkedIn… pretty similar thing for Facebook as well!)
  • Tell more!! Short Status updates get limited reach.

Here is what has worked for us again and again:

  • Status updates with text at least 700 to 1200 characters long. Provide more information…(Algorithm loves it as it slows down people when they are reading it which makes them stay longer on the website)
  • Visual performs better!! Add an image or a video
  • Try not to include links to any content on or off LinkedIn
  • Use relevant hashtags that relate to your post
  • Mention a few people in the post of comment field (Start the conversation)
  • Very Important: Avail every opportunity of engagement on your post to re-engage your network

Video without a link and just text is the winner!! Examples:
