Podcast Statistics of 2018

–> 16 million Canadians have listened to a podcast. Podcasts can be taken anywhere including in the car, home, while traveling and on mobile devices. It’s content on demand like Netflix.

–> That number is up 11 percent from 2017. Overall, 40 percent of Canadians age 12 or older have listened to a podcast at some point.

— > 16 million Canadians have listened to a podcast, up 11% in one year. 9 million Canadians listen to podcasts monthly

–> That’s up 14 percent in one year. Today, 24 percent of Canadians age 12 or older listen to podcasts monthly. For context, 21 percent of Canadians are Catholic. Thus, podcast listening is more common than Catholicism in Canada.

For comparison purposes, three percent of Canadians go to the movies weekly. 6 million Canadians listen to podcasts weekly, five times more than go to the movies
